Wag Walking

Wag! Group Co. is seeking an exceptional individual to join the Accounting team and oversee and drive the day to day accounting function of Wag!.  The individual will report to the Controller, work closely with both the CFO and Controller, and regularly interact with external auditors, the legal team, and investor relations professionals. 

What You’ll Do

• Manage and oversee of the Accounting function (inc. P&L, Balance Sheet)
• Supervise, coach, and mentor accounting staff and AP staff
• Oversee the monthly close process including account reconciliations/analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Review monthly financial statements and trend analyses to ensure that all results are proper and prepared in accordance with US GAAP guidelines
• Maintain/approve reconciliation of all accounts.
• Generate financial statements, business activity reports and other documents for internal and external distribution.
• Responsibility for the company's SOX environment including developing, maintaining and documentation of internal controls; initiate and drive process improvements
• Plan and manage external audit and quarterly reviews
• Guide and assist other departments by clearly communicating current accounting and budgeting policies and procedures as well as composing and disseminating new procedures and policies as necessitated by best practices and changes in federal and state regulations
• Oversee the training and development of accounting staff, and delegate duties and authority to meet departmental and organizational goals
• Manage cash flow requirements and projections
• Ensure all tax and other compliance deadlines are met.
• Establish, document, monitor and update accounting system software and procedures
• Assist in M&A activities
• Work with departmental leaders in the review and analysis of financial results to budget.

About You

• At least ten years of work experience in accounting. 
• CPA license 
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• Public accounting experience is a plus
• Advanced computer skills, including Office suite applications and financial reporting tools.  NetSuite experience is a plus
• At least five years of supervisory experience
• Proven success working in a complex organization
• Proven experience in managing and coordinating audit activities and managing reports, general ledger, budgeting, and payroll.
• Highly competent in technical accounting, financial analysis, and financial reporting,
• Proven ability to lead a diverse accounting team. 
• Proven ability to collaborate on projects.

The compensation package for this role includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for a very limited subset of roles, commissions plans. Our expected cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:

$160,000 - $210,000 in San Francisco, California 

$160,000 - $210,000 in New York, New York

Wag! Is currently moving forward with a flexible hybrid work environment and looking to return to the office at least one day per week if you work near one of our current physical offices. Our current office locations are San Francisco, California and Phoenix, Arizona. The preferred location for this position is in or around Wag's SF Bay Area, CA Office(s), with in-office work capabilities, as may be required by management. We have employees located around the Bay Area including SF and South Bay Area.
